    Jack booted thugs strike again!

Another story of outrageous police conduct:
Apparently Roy Hibbert (of the Pacers) took a pic of an officer in Indiana giving a homeless guy a pair of boots. I'm confused. I thought anytime a LEO talked to someone it was because they were trying to take the person to jail?? And I'm sure the homeless guy didn't talk to the cop (after all, most attorneys advise to NEVER talk to the police) so I wonder how the officer knew he needed shoes (or maybe even got him them in the correct size..).

Must be fake...no way a cop has a heart and would give a homeless black man a pair of boot...he is a white cop so he was probably setting him up.

most likely they were the wrong size so the innocent man would get bunions and sue the department for abuse.

Those are actually the homeless guy's boots after he was searched and booked on a wrongful arrest. Then he was dropped off on the side of the street once the supervisor will not sign off the arrest. It so happens someone was there to take a picture.

Im sure the officer threw the work boots at him and told him now he had no more excuses for not having a job....just to set the record straight police officers never go to 7-11 at 3 am in the middle of winter to buy coffee to give to the (none druggie) resident homeless people. That would mean they have a heart.

Were the boots black or white?

When I first started reading, I thought it was another case of dude getting lumped up by some footwear. Giving someone the boot back in the day meant something totally different.

There are kind people in every profession and it is a great thing. I was one one of the coordinators for our local food bank and had just scored 1800lbs of canned goods that was pallet loaded in my pickup. When I got to my distribution point we had no way but by hand to unload. One call to a local CHP with a forklift and he was there in no time flat. Saved us a ton+ of hand labor and he is a great guy . Thanks Justice (his real name)!

I'm not sure many of the homeless where I work need shoes this time of year (maybe later...), but maybe a footwash would be a good idea.

The vast majority of the homeless in my locale are Veterans so the annual Veteran Stand Down event usually supplies them with footwear. I've volunteered with the organization for a few years now and it's definitely a honor to help some of these guys out.

I've worked extensively with the homeless population in my area. There are quite a few veterans and I always tried to get their story on how they wound up on the streets. It's often sad to hear how this otherwise good guys and gals turned down a path of self destruction.

I did, however, find quite a few of the "vets" to be liars in regards to nature of their service, length of service, and reason for discharge (some weren't even EVER in the military). I found a "regular" one day chumming it up with a Gulf War vet; the "regular" was talking about how he was on the street due to disabilities from in the Gulf War/bunch of other BS. Shoulda seen the look on the real veteran's face when I explained what ACTUALLY happened during the regular's time in uniform and how his homelessness was actually 100% his own choice (I had got him places to stay but he refused to go). The regular was not very happy with me that day after I took away his source of beer money/food...

Have you worked with any of the Homeless Veterans programs through the VA? I think you work with juveniles if I am not mistaken; however, they can be a good resource for some veterans in need of housing.

Why does it have to be a "rock?"

Did they find out later that the guy had money, put the boots aside, and went back to barefoot the next day?
