Prayers for Officer Garcia and all of the men and women currently serving our communities. It seems to me, that the streets got meaner in the last few years. I can remember going months without hearing about a serious attack on law enforcement. Now, it seems like it happens every few days.

Good luck to the officer hopefully he makes it and doesn't end up permanently altered in some way shape or form.

Hopefully the trainee isn't hung out to dry by the dept.

                            From today:

                            "By Joe Nelson, The Sun

SAN BERNARDINO >> A press conference is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today at the San Bernardino Police Department, where District Attorney Michael A. Ramos and Police Chief Jarrod Burguan will announce the filing of criminal charges in connection with the shooting of Officer Gabriel Garcia on Friday.

Garcia, 31, and the rookie partner he was training walked into a hail of bullets about 2 a.m. Friday as they approached a group of suspicious individuals near 19th and Garner streets, on the city’s west side. One of the men in the group, Alex Alvarado, 38, began firing on the officers with an AK-47 assault rifle, shooting Garcia in the head and critically wounding him.

Garcia’s unidentified rookie partner drew his gun and shot Alvarado dead. Alvarado was a career criminal and fugitive who had four warrants out for his arrest at the time of the shooting, police said.

Garcia is fighting for his life at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton.

Arrested in connection with the shooting was Jonathan Contreras, 20, of San Bernardino. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino."
