LEO "standard/ hi cap mags" to the range

Does anyone here call ahead to the range and let them know you are LEO and bringing your 30 round/20 round mags to shoot at their facility? Last thing I want is a stern talking to or a bad experience. Looking to go shoot at the Manteca Sportsmen range soon. Haven't been there before.

Nope, I don't call or even say anything. However if some employee at the range suddenly feels the need to tell me that my mags are illegal or whatever nonsense they use, I can assure you that it will be the last time I patronize that business. I will also be sure the management knows exactly why they have lost a customer.

Bring chamber flags if you have them or you have to spend a buck or two to buy them there. One of the RO's is against AR rifles in a big way. He told me that he wouldn't own one if someone paid him to have it. To each their own I guess.

Not to insult your intelligence, bit don't put those mags in a bb rifle. You'll be making an illegal AW if you do.

I wish I could say my intelligence was insulted, but I was unaware of that. Thanks for that. I do have 30's with my personal BB'd M&P-15. I'll probably leave the 30 round mags home then and take an M1A with 20 round mags and some handguns. Thank you.

Welcome to California... where the laws are so complex and vague most cops don't even really understand them.

I really would just leave them at home until you have had enough time to explore the ins and outs of the laws. Even your M1A could get you in trouble if it has a flash hider rather than a compensator.

To get you started, look up featureless rifles on here. I'm on my phone otherwise I'd give you a link.

I do the same, just leave it at home in case of a rainy day...

lol ironic since flash hiders are also basically compensators

Noooo. Flash hiders hide flash so you can't be seen. It's a sniper attachment. Duh!

I take 33 round glock mags and 30 round ar mags to the range all the time. I just keep to myself and i don't flaunt them or wave them around for ppl to see. If you are a leo and someone says something to you, just explain who you are. If you own the mags legally then you have nothing to worry about. Ive had range staff see what i'm doing and have never said a word to me because i give them a heads up plus they know me well enough by now. Again just keep to yourself and be discreet and i doubt anyone will say anything to you

Bad advice. Putting a 30 round mag into a bb rifle is manufacturing an assault rifle, regardless of legal magazine ownership. Big time state felony.
