All of the CCW trainers I have asked about ammo selection indicate that it's best to find out what your IA carries and copy that. I understand some of the reasoning: it's well tested and reliable, it's suitable for the local conditions (therefore OCSD or LAPD will probably use different ammo than Mariposa County SD, etc.) but I don't know what ammo OCSD issues. I will be primarily carrying a G26, and I think OCSD still uses .40, so maybe that isn't going to match anyway but I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

OCSD Duty Ammo
Do not give in to evil, but proceed ever more boldly against it.Tags: None -
Most departments buy ammo through a state or local contract with the manufacturer or distributor. Right now I believe that the state contract is for Winchester Ranger T series (I haven't looked recently), it has little to do with location, and more to do with price. -
I'm not OCSD, I'm a city PD in Orange County but we use Winchester Ranger XT duty rounds in our Glocks.Comment

CCW Trainers recommend using the same ammo as local LEO because it works better in court, not because it performs better, although the later should be a bonus of the thinking....CRPA and NRA Life member
