Slide On Belt Keepers?

I ordered a so-so set of duty gear from LAPG to run around and get dirty with. The photo showed snap type belt keepers on there, but when my order arrived, the keepers turned out to be fully enclosed.

I researched and found that they were called "Slide On" keepers and several, reputable manufacturers make them.

Have any of you folks used these? They sure don't make the belt quick disconnect ability easy. Maybe they're designed for the special teams or similar.

Tagging for interest. I myself have never used this type of keeper. I used to wear the standard button-style keepers but recently switched to a hook and loop inner belt/duty belt combo, which I prefer.

Never had a snap on fail, so I don't see the purpose.

I preferred velcro keepers along with a nylon belt (more flexible and lighter). The slide on ones seem like a PITA.

I use hook and loop and snap on keepers. I've had the rear keepers pop loose before, but that's what the other two and the hook and loop are for. I don't like those things you linked to.

From revisiting the picture in link, maybe they're to keep the inner belt (assuming that you use one) and duty belt in one piece then you would continue to use the hook and loop type to attach to your pant belt. That's likely the main reason I'd even consider the slide on type.

I've tried them on and basically had to slide my pant belt via belt loop, keeper, belt loop, etc... until everything lined up.

What a pain. I'll have to go get a set basic nylon snap ons now. I don't want to use my fancy leather ones and get them beaten up from drills.

Wear three belts?

My pants belt was Nylon / Velcro and my duty belt was also Nylon / Velcro. You wrapped the outer belt around your waist and it stuck to the pants belt. Apply Velcro keepers, and you have a very secure setup.

So you won't have the traditional faux-basketweave pant belt at all?

My apologies, I've never had an inner belt setup and don't exactly understand how you would use it with a duty belt.

Now IM confused. For my duty belt, I wear the inner belt in the pant loops, duty belt over that, and then keepers ensure they stay together.

I'm going to say it's whatever floats your boat and that the purpose of these slide on keepers is lost in the world.

After posting this thread, I started to look at few local guys' rigs and noticed that some of them used the inner belt alone as the duty belt i.e. the standard basket weave uniform pant belt with the velcro/nylon wrapped around with gear on it. I thought it looked strange because the buckles were missing.

Beats the heck out of me. I'm swapping out these keepers because they're way too inconvenient.

Nope, no basket weave belt. My pants belt was nylon like in the link, but with hook and loop attached to the outside of it. My outer duty belt had hook and loop on the inside, and it wraps around and sticks to the inner belt. You then lock it down with hook and loop keepers. The duty belt had a plastic clip on the front instead of a normal buckle. Much lighter and more flexible than leather.

This is the closest pic I could find on the net of what my duty belt looked like (mine is stashed in my garage, and I don't have any pics).
