Hi I am going hiking in lytle creek soon and I was wondering if any of you new if I could carry my pistol while hiking. Were going to be hiking about 3 miles or so off the main road and I'm not to familiar with the gun laws for lytle creek while hiking thank you for your time

All of that area is closed to shooting, making it a prohibited shooting area. Carry would be illegal. Gun laws in a "prohibited shooting area" are the same as if you were in a city.

There is a sticky thread for that general question - Firearms in Forests and Parks in the Camping/Hiking forum.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

One can legally hunt there however. Get a hunting license. Coyote hunting is legal year round up there, above the range and with lead free bullets, west of the 15fwy. Just stay in the San Berdo county side of the NF. LA county, no handgun "hunting" permitted.
