The officer was lucky that the BG didn't pull the gun out when being wrestled off the bike.

This is also a reason that I used to carry hinged cuffs. If you stack the wrist when cuffing, a BG can't slip them under his feet. It also is a huge distraction for "frequent flyers," as it puts their hands in a completely unexpected position

Another thing to try and do is to cuff with the BG's palms facing out. It changes the angle of the shoulder, making it more difficult to slip the hands under the feet.

          Poor search....plain and simple.

Nothing compares to the incident from San Bernardino where the suspect had a full sized handgun in his pants that no one found, until he used it to shoot himself in the head while in an interview room at the station. I'm sure many of you have seen the video. Unbelievable.

Yeah that was a bad one. If it's the same, I remember watching that in the academy.

An added note: just because you found one, don't stop searching. I've had at least five BG's that I can remember, concealing 2 or more on them.
You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You might not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first two things you're going to do are, 1) Call someone with a gun, 2) Pray they get there in time.
