How long does it take to get a ticket in the mail?

I got a ticket from CHP in the middle of March with a court date of 6/3/14 but still have not received anything by mail. How long does it normally take?

I'm a truck driver. CHP does annual audits. They can cite me for violations retro-actively a year later.

But to your question, you can call and confirm. Referance the citation number on your copy the officer gave you.

What you may or may not receive in the mail is considered a courtesy reminder. Depending on the court, they may go out in a timely manner, they may go out late, or not at all. If you are starting to get anxious, or want to take care of things before the court date, contact the court to see what is going on. If not, just show up at the date and time listed on the ticket.

I want to do a trial by written declaration, but thought I needed the mailed paperwork first. Not true?

The court isn't required to mail you any notice. It is up to you to show up in court. There should be a notice to appear date on your citation. I would contact the court directly, the contact info should be on the ticket.

If that is the case, then you need to notify the court that you are entering a "not guilty" plea and go from there. You can contact the court and see what their procedure is or wait for your court date.

So, were the "Assessments" a bit of a shock?
4-5 times the original fine is not only steep, but I suspect it is unconstitutional.
