Hi all,
New guy to the forum and new California resident here. I have a very general question for any California LEO's that would be willing to offer an opinion.
Just as an intro I have to say that as law abiding lay-person and enthusiastic plinker, California gun laws can be very frustrating. I was born and raised in Illinois which had similar laws but not quite as strict as Cali's. I haven't purchased any new firearms in the state and the only ones I do own are a shotgun for skeet and one good hunting rifle and I WON'T be purchasing any new ones until I feel I better understand the laws out here.
Now with that being said, I'm very curious to hear an LEO's opinion about the state of gun rights in California. I'd imagine that the LA county sheriff would be a lot more enthusiastic about stricter gun control than say a sheriff in a more rural county.
As a side note I've always been a guy that lived by the credo that it was better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission (Navy taught me it was the best way to go when Chief's nowhere to be found), but anything that could turn out to be a felony?.... Well that's a horse of a different color.
For this particular thread I'm really just curious about the opinions floating around than the legality of anything though and I can understand this might be a point of contention even among LEO's so feel free to put me in my place if I'm out of line and I'll keep it to myself in the future. Thanks in advance and sorry for rambling.
