Mexican police

I recently came back from San Felipe Mexico for spring break. I was staying at a area in the downtown area of city. I noticed alot of odd particularities on how Mexican police patrol and use tactics.

For instance in the city of this town they constantly roll with lights on with no sense of emergency, other than it displays a heavy police presence. I found that to be odd and somewhat counterproductive ( traffic wont move over) , who know maybe it works for them?

It was hard to figure what laws they enforce if any lol. They would pull people over for riding in the back of a pick up truck, but ignored people riding quads without helmets blazing through the streets very fast.

Drunk in public is one of crime there that could land you inside a jail very fast.

U.S. police are truly top notch in their training and equipment. It' a amazing difference just a few min over the border from San Diego. Yes the municipal policia and Estatal ( state) seem effective and have decent vehicles I.E. Dodge avengers, crown vics and dodge rams.

It blows your mind as you can't recognize what seems be a police procedure in the U.S. Traffic stops are universal, everything was sort of a mystery to me. No DUI sobriety tests, etc.

Are they in par with ours in term of equipment?

Firearms they had Beretta M9's, AR15's etc. They wore plate carrier vests , navy BDU's and combat boots etc. They have all the same modern equipment essentially as any modern police dept.

Not sure about their computer systems like NCIC or anything like that?

lol lights on no siren means dont f**k around to the locals. They aren't patrolling/snooping around like here, it's simply a warning en masse.

how lame they still rock steal frame "dirtbikes" lol and the bike closest to the truck should have replaced his tires i dont maybe a couple tens of thousands of miles ago, and the guy on the left of that has bald *** tires too... i guess they like drifting their bikes bahahahaa

San Felipe has its own set of rules there on Spring Break. I've gone when the army had a $10'dollar entrance fee to enter the city with your car. I've also had traffic stopped so I could proceed through first. First and foremost you are a visitor in their country. If they want to arrest you, they can. Therefore I was always polite during any police/military contacts I had down there. Notice I said "was". The risk vs reward has now tipped so far into the risk side that the only time I go to Mexico is in an armored Suburban to do business for the day.

Speaking of the military. It was cool to see the Military off loading from a humvee at a police check point, those guys are all business. I hope the Narcos were scared.


Felt very safe being under a form of "martial law" OT would have a field day if it was in the U.S.

I had the eye opening experience of going to several third world nations in the military. Made me appreciate what we have here in the States! As much as its not perfect here, we have so much to be thankful for, and as citizens, have so much more than citizens in many other countries!!!

Oddly enough, that's the way allot of countries do it. It doesn't make any sense to me either...

My wifes cousin works for the mexicali municipal police which are the same officers that patrol san felipe. He was telling me they were just assigned berettas Arx160 to replace their bushys m4s. Pretty decent department to be in mexico

Our busted tail light that we were pulled over for, but was working when we got out an looked cost us USD$20 on the spot. Bag of worms said it wasn't working when he stopped us seconds ago, so pay up or we had to go to the station.

Never ever had to bribe any cop down there. Then again my brother speaks fluent Spanish, I know a llittle so they figure we aren't gringos
