Never taken it, not required as far as I know. First aid and CPR are though. Way back when we did an in-service CPR/first aid course that went beyond the basic course. I don't think it was a state requirement just something someone thought was a good idea.

If you want a first responder course recognized statewide you need Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). The course needs to be approved by a local (county) EMS agency or the state EMS Authority. Any others aren't worth taking in California. It's not required for LEO's in this state although both CHP and State Parks have programs and put all their officers/rangers through in their respective academies. The minimum EMS qualification for LEO in California is First Aid and CPR (Title 22).

Specifically for the job, stick to the required Title 22 material. Check the Red Cross and American Heart Association. If you want something beyond that, CA POST has several approved TCCC classes out there. Or you can go for your EMT-B card but that is a bit much if you are carrying a full college load.
