Here is the latest on USAF LEOSA.
The Air Force manual SECURITY FORCES IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER SAFETY ACT (LEOSA) has been signed and sent for assigning a number and publication. The link below is the latest version.

SF HQ is in the process of securing a vendor to issue credentials. They expect to begin issuing credentials this fall. The cost is at the individual's expense and unknown what that will be at this time. You will need both the credential and weapons qualification card to carry. It is my understanding that for the most part, weapons qualification will be the course of fire for CCW in your county.
The process will be an online application with submission of a DD214 for proof of service. Once those individuals with DD214s are handled and the bugs worked out, they will begin working with others to refine the process and define what documentation can be presented to prove time in the career field.
Things move slowly but at least they're moving forward. Check out the USAFLEOSA Facebook page. There are some links to great articles to give some thought to. Not all states are on board with LEOSA and since it's a Federal law, it does not negate specific state limitations.
If you have served as an Air Force MP, SP, SF, of DOD Police, you are encouraged to join the Air Force Security Forces Association and participate with a chapter near you. And if there isn't a chapter, start one.
