Hello friends,
Few days ago, some bright soul thought I was carrying a gun (I guess brandishing a weapon) in a parking lot, it was an umbrella. Many police came by, I was cuffed, put into a squad car, while they searched my car. Obviously nothing was found, and I was let go after about an hour. Just wondering if any of this goes on a criminal record of some sort, I would assume not, but I'm not that proficient with the law, hope someone can help me out. I felt really bad after, they even brought a helicopter for nothing!

You were probably listed as detained somewhere, not much else.

You might be entered into the departments database as being contacted. We generate what's called an FIR. It is not in a national database. If an agency calls and asked if we have had contact with you we explain the contact date and time and the disposition of the contact.

With us you would be listed as an "Other person" in a documented report probably listed as a suspicious circumstance or misc. non-criminal of some sort. Just in a local contact database

It wont affect the two areas you mentiined except if you apply for a law enforcement job. As part of the background process, local agencies are called to see if an applicant has had contacts. It shouldnt prevent you from being hired but make sure you list it as a law enforcement contact if you ever decide to apply for law enforcement.
