Local range wanted to make a copy of my creds

So I wanted to try a new local range this weekend (not going to say which one) but some stuff just kinda made me question the whole operation.

First they wanted to scan my driver's license to keep on "file." Ummm ok that is fine I guess.

Second they wanted to inspect my weapons. Absolutely, safety first. I told them I was off duty and my off duty weapon has a high cap mag. They were like can we see your credentials. Sure your range, and lets ensure everything is legal.

THIRD they wanted to keep a scanned copy of my agency credentials. That sir I was not ok with. Has any other LEOS in here experienced a range wanting to keep a scanned copy of your creds? Seemed fishy so I left.

I'd rather give them my LE credentials before my driver's license any day of the week. My LE ID doesn't have where I live. It's none of their business!

It's better to not ID yourself next go around. Who cares if you bring in "hi cap" mags. As far as I'm concerned, they're standard capacity pistol mags. If questioned on the line, then you can ID yourself.
    Internetz are serious business.

Too much red tape for me. I want to have a fun, safe, stress free time. I deal with enough red tape on a daily basis. I would of left too.

Noticed your location is Chino. We can guess which is your local range.

It wasn't in chino, but was in the IE.

Gotta ask why would it be ok for them to have a copy of your DL, with all your address info on it, and not your issued ID that only has your name and description on it? Inspect the guns yeah absolutely, scan and copy my DL not gonna happen.

Yea it clicked after they asked for my creds. I told them I wanted the copy of my license back too. Which of course they gave me.

Nope. Couple of indoor ranges I use will keep the DL or membership card on a clip board associated with the lane #. If your LEO, they don't require you to leave an ID. Never had anyone try to burn a copy. I don't recall ever leaving any ID at an outdoor range. Sign-in/waiver, yes but that's it.

I have NEVER let anyone copy my creds by ANY means. Such collection can be photo shopped to make fake creds with agency headings. In fact, I never let my creds out of my sight.

If they insist, I would demand to see the person who MAKES that policy. If they still insist, I'd shoot elsewhere.

Then I'd go to top management of the range and give them a come-to-Jesus talk (in writing) about counterfeit creds.

No it was an indoor range in the ie. If you would like ill tell you through mp which range it was. I just don't want to throw that range under the bus. It's a new range and maybe they'll change their policy, so I want to be a bit humble right now.

If they're pulling stupid stunts like that, they need to be thrown under the bus. Then they can be educated. Copies of personal information and LE creds? Never had that happen before and wouldn't shoot at any range that would.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

                            1) I don't shoot where people must paw over my magazines and guns before they let me shoot there. I also don't give a rats you know what about their opinions on my kit, either.

                            2) I would not have let them make photocopies of my ID's and I most certainly would have left like you did.
