Missing person report, what should I expect?

I'm hoping someone could help me a little on this.
My younger brother is "unfindable" at this moment, I talked to my folks this morning and we decided to file a missing persons report.
He was last seen in Arizona over 2 weeks ago

What does LE do when you get these reports?

How can this help find my brother?

Edit: my folk are in AZ so they of course are going to do the filing.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Is he an adult? If so he gets entered in the system and when a cop stops him he says...hey someone reported you missing. If a juvenile over 13 the detectives will follow up and take him in to custody as a runaway and return him to family.

Unless you can show suspicious circumstances they will simply put him in the system as missing. Its not illegal for an adult to come and go as they please

It's not uncommon for him to come and go but this is the first time he has dropped off the radar.

He's a healthy 40 year old male but I'm under the suspicion that he may using drugs of some sort per the last conversation he had with my parents.
The last time my brother spoke to my step dad he told him that "they're going to kill me, they're going to kill me".

My step dad said he seemed panicky and possibly delusional.
This would lead me to believe that A: He's become paranoid (meth?) or
B: Someone is in fact going to kill him.

He recently lost his job and got evicted from his apartment, he has no phone and his whereabouts are unknown.
We are just hoping and praying that he shows up some time soon and in good health.

Sorry to hear about your brother. Hope you find him soon, and get him into rehab. or this is going to be a ongoing problem.

Well he popped up Saturday and called my mother on Sunday.
As far as I can tell he's healthy and in a safe place at the moment. I'm sure more information will be forth coming but from what I can tell he's not out of the woods yet.

                          Good to hear Dave.
For what it's worth I have a sister in her 50's that does this for years at a time. Our parents are gone and I guess she sees no reason to keep her brothers upto date on her comings and goings. Some people are just like that.

Yes, he's done that too but more on the lines of never calling, he's always been easy to get a hold of.

BTW thanks for the support and prayers everyone.

Get him a net10 phone and keep it in service for him...$20 or $30 a month and the phones are cheap ($20 bucks or less on sale).

Cheap way to keep your Mom from worrying until he is back on his feet.
