.22LR Pistol Threaded Barrel LEO Exemption?

Hi, I'm looking at getting a S&W M&P 22 Pistol, and I'd love to get the version that comes with a 12 round mag. That version also has a threaded barrel that I don't care about. Does anyone know if there is a threaded barrel exemption for .22 pistols for LEO's?

I have full credentials but my department doesn't issue letters unless you're on SWAT, which I'm not (yet!).

There is a model that Smith&Wesson manufactures which comes with 12rd mags and no threaded barrel....

Pistols with threaded barrels are considered RAW's in ca which requires a letter for purchase....
