Need Some Advice on Background Packet

    Sup Guys

I'm starting to fill out some of the items in my background packet for PD. I'm having a hard time filling out and contacting my past employers, specifically when it comes to the supervisors. Many have moved on to other jobs or simply changed numbers. Someone at work, who has gone through the app process, told me to attach a separate appendix in order to explain exactly who I tried to contact and perhaps a company HR representative that can vouch for my employment. He also told me to show your BI this info in order to let them know that you tried and are taking initiative. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Gather as much information as you can about your past employers. Write it down or type it in a separate comment section on the packet. If your BI, has to go out of his or her way to obtain all the information, your background is going to take a while to complete. Make it easy for them, and provide as much information as you can. If you have too many discrepancies in your packet it will not look good once it leaves the BI's hands and goes for final review.

I went to the Social Security office and pulled my work history.
Provided dates and addresses/numbers for jobs. I then listed the names of my supervisors/bosses (a few of which I could no longer remember their last names).

Explained this during my background appointment since I was listing jobs from the age of 14 and my BI was very understanding and accommodating.

The appendix to show your own effort in searching for the info would be a great idea as well.

If you look on the standard post background packet it should say somewhere on there; either in the instructions in the beginning or at the very end to attach as many as needed extra pages (there at the end of the packet and are blank) explaining things that arnt included in the package. do your 100% maximum on what you can do and explain it at the end. Do not leave lines blank on the form. either write something in the line or write NA.

If you hit a wall and cant go further with a company then explain it at the end. The BG guy knows that you cant trackdown some part time employee at the pizza place you worked at in highschool. Just do you best and have an answer when asked.

Be resourceful and explain the steps you took when you meet with the BI. I even used Facebook and just sent people messages. My BI was surprised at how much info I turned up. For others I could not I wrote an explanation of what steps I took and provided tax returns as well as answering any questions she had about the jobs in full honestly.

I'm still in the process of being hired. Companies go under, people move, pass away etc. it's to be expected I've learned that you can't reach everyone.
