What should I expect at LASD interview?

Hi All,
I am scheduled for testing in January, and have been told I will be there for six hours. Can someone give me the rundown of what to expect?

Written test or interview?

I could be wrong, but you will be doing this:
1) written test
2) If you pass then you will do quick pre background check
3) If you pass that then they will give you a background packet for you to take home

That seems like a really long time, are you flying in or something (doing multiple steps that day)?

I'm local, and applying for reserves. I've already filled out the 17 page application including the sensitive docs, etc. I guess I assumed that background would begin if I passed the upcoming test, and that they would use the 17 pager to cull what they needed to begin the background. You're saying there's an additional packet?
