    Just wanted to say thanks!

This is to all the leos, I just wanted to say thanks for the outstanding job you are all doing! I was pulled over not even an hour ago. I was driving on a back road taking my girlfriend to school. An officer drove past me, turned around, and flashed his lights on. I pulled over, he calmly walked up to my car, asked how I was doing and if I knew how fast I was going. I said I really didn't know because my speedometer was malfunctioning (which it was). He pointed out that he clocked me at 47 in a 25 . He then asked for my lic and reg took it to his car then came back. He said to be careful and drive slower and left with a "have a nice day". The only thing that left me a bit confused was that he didn't tell me to get my speedometer fixed (which I will now fix today). But anyways I do appreciate the fact that he warned me and genuinely cared about my safety (and the safety of others.

Long story short, thanks for doing a good job!!!!

Just to clarify: not saying thanks for not giving me a ticket, I'm saying thanks for his awesome attitude!

Society needs more cool people like you. What a concept; A grown man owning some responsibility. Very rare these days. Not saying warnings are always given, but being cool goes A LONG WAY. Stay safe and have a great holiday!!

Thank you OP for the nice comments to the officers in this forum. I wish others would have your understanding of what LEOs do 24/7.

To everyone else, I hope you have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. There were a couple of years where my Better Half was called out right before carving the turkey. The rest of my family is relieved that he has since resumed his place at the head of the table [I produce flaming fireballs in the kitchen -- carbon dating has nothing on me - lol]

Not to rain on your parade or whatever but:

        1. A broken speedo is no excuse for almost 50 in a 25. You should know what 25-30 mph feels like without needing to check a speedo.

        2. Would you have posted what you posted if you had gotten a ticket?

I never excuesed my actions sir, I should've paid more attention and It was my fault. ( which is why I was pulled over). Also, does the phrase "no harm no foul" sound familiar? He saw that I had a clean record and didn't see the need to ruin it over a victimless crime ( Thats my guess anyway) The point is: that he did his true job of protecting citizens and not just giving out tickets for every infraction he can find. I have learned a lesson from this and am fixing the problem. And no ticket. If he did give me a ticket, there is no way I could afford a new speedometer.

Ok, lemme rephrase what I said:

            1. You should know what 25-30 mph feels like (as opposed to 45-50) regardless of whether your speedo is working or not.

            2. Again - would you have posted what you posted if you had gotten a ticket? Since you avoided answering, I'm thinking probably No.

IMO, a REAL supporter of LE/LEOs would STILL post what you posted EVEN IF he/she received a ticket that he/she legitimately qualified for.

Whether or not an LEO is Polite, Professional, genuinely cares about your safety, protects citizens, etc has NOTHING TO DO WITH him or her issuing a ticket - i.e. just because an LEO writes a ticket does NOT mean he/she is NOT doing an "outstanding job".

I'm happy for you that you got a warning instead of a cite BUT I'm really tired of the attitude of so many people that cops are "cool" or doing a "good job" ONLY if/when they give warnings or breaks.

Occasionally, someone will post something (out of the blue and for no apparent reason) encouraging or nice about LE/LEOs - if I may be so bold as to speak for my people, you are welcome! We are happy you are out there and we will continue to do our best to deserve your support!

And FWIW, if the original message had simply been, 'thanks for the warning instead of the cite', I would have had no issue with it. My "problem" was with "outstanding job" (because no citation was issued).

            ::stepping off soap box now::

And yes, it's that time of the month so I'm all sentido ahora...

I've gotten a citation before and wrote poorly of it due to the officers attitude and choice of words. And yes, I woud've written this if I had gotten a ticket. Why? Because he was nice! I don't care about the ticket, I 100% deserved one and I'm not saying " thanks for not giving me a ticket." I was saying thanks for being a nice person ( like asking how my day was, having a smile, a relaxed body stance, not having his hand on his pistol ready to draw ext) and letting officers on here know that I appreciate it. That's all

A great LEO can tell you to "go 'f' yourself" in so many words while smiling and you will thank him for his time. I have a friend who has literally had people BEG him to give them a ticket for whatever it was wrong that they did. Now obviously I'm not advocating that LEO's should be "nice" jerks; simply that great ones are able to use their tone, expressions, etc to great effect in almost any circumstance.

Jesus Bro, talk about a Buzz Kill. With all the Cop Bashing on CalGuns, this is your response?

The guy takes the time to thank the profession and relate a positive experience. End of story.

OP...Again, thanks, be safe and have a great holiday season.

Wow, how does a thank you turn into such hatred.

My thoughts exactly. Talk about a "Debbie Downer." OP, thank you for the kind words. Samuel, take a chill pill and chase it with a Jack & Coke.

I stand by what I wrote for the reasons I explained.

That being said, I Do sincerely apologize to Zirconceo and everyone else for being Negative Ned.
No offense to anyone who might be named Ned...

(not that it makes any difference but if he had added his "just to clarify" at the bottom of his post from the beginning, I wouldn't have had an issue...)
