I don't know where that FUD started about the 3" rule. The only thing I can remember, even remotely close, was a municipal code that LASO used (don't even remember it now). Other than that, the only size restrictions are on switchblades and belt buckle knives, and that's somewhere (off the top of my head) in the approx. 1.5" range.
