Sheriffs patrolling Yolo causeway on 80?

I'm just curious, as I have seen Yolo Co Sheriffs pulling people over on the freeway exactly twice in my life, and both happened this week at the Davis side of the Yolo causeway on 80. Are the county sheriffs getting more aggresisive in enforcement? Is there a bigger crackdown on 80? Is this maybe the sheriff car with a license plate scanner? Was it just a case of deja vu?
I would post this in OT, but that would spiral into some discussion of obama and healthcare without answering my question(s).

Could be any number of reasons. I know sheriff's departments that are proactive in traffic, and others that want nothing to do with traffic enforcement. Then again sometimes someone does something so stupid right in front of you on the freeway that you have to do something. You just know that phone call is going to the watch commander if your don't. He may or may not give a rats hind end one way or the other, but positive PR is important these days
