    Sacramento sheriff going to glocks?

I heard a rumor today that Sac S/O were going to Glocks in 9mm.
Anyone else hear of have direct knowledge? I think they currently use Sig 226's in fourty cal.

Easier to operate works when filthy but with a lesser round. They should use a Glock that'll take .40 to keep their knockdown power. Wait it's Sacramento our seat of power guess they are going to the world standard pistol round.

I guess the Captain that hated Glocks must have retired.

The G17/19 were once on the SSD approved list for personally owned duty guns...along with about 40+ others.

When I retired a few years ago, the issue pistol was a choice between the 226/229/239 in either 9mm or .40

That right there is funny..... Maybe you should actually go read some ballistics results.

They are going to the glock 22/ 17. The 19/23 will also be an option I believe.

I hope we get a chance to pick up their "retired" SIGs for a good price. The last time I saw some, they were only $399 for a barely used 226

Maybe they're thinking Short & Weak has more recoil and higher decibels. Seems scarier when fired.

Word is our Dept will be issuing only the Glock 17, however, the offier can choose other Glocks but they have to purchase them. As far as the choice to go to 9mm, our Range Master has been quite involved with ballistic studies and the Federal round (HST 147+P) we use has equaled or out performed any 40 ammo out there. Kind of hard to argue with, plus you get more rounds in the mag.

Is there going to be a problem laying in enough ammo for the department? Are they updating the holsters to a higher retention level or keeping the same holster just getting glock version?

I am a Glock guy but many people are not. Is this an issue with a lot of people in the force?

Not that I have heard (take that for what its worth). I am sure the decision is the result of several factors.. service life of current Sig hanguns, economics, and the belief that Glocks are easier to shoot well and fit a variety of Officers better. I support the decision, but I am a Glock guy too..

You will get a little more velocity out of the G22 because of the longer barrel and a little less felt recoil.
