The CHP Visalia Area is deeply saddened to report the passing of Jesus Magdaleno, ID 18051, on August 18, 2013. Officer Magdaleno was off-duty at the Flamingo Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. While loading luggage into his vehicle, Officer Magdaleno was the victim of a carjacking. The suspect was able to gain control of the vehicle and fled the scene with Officer Magdaleno and his brother-in-law in the bed of the pick-up truck. The suspect lost control of the vehicle and collided with another vehicle and a power pole. Officer Magdaleno and his brother-in-law were ejected from the vehicle. Office Magdaleno sustained fatal injuries. The brother-in-law sustained major injuries and remains in critical condition.
Officer Magdaleno was an eight-year veteran of the Department and had been assigned to the Visalia Area office since December 2010. Officer Magdaleno was engaged and soon to be married. Officer Magdaleno is survived by his mother and siblings.
