Pretty straight forward, is a phone app the same as texting as far as driving while texting goes?

Can you be cited for using pandora ?

Probably for distracted driving. I responded to this thread before realizing it was the LEO thread, so we shall just have to wait for a more informed person to answer that.

While this is a news story and not a case brief, I would still read it.http://news.yahoo.com/calif-court-mo...215700890.html. So, at least in Fresno County you could likely expect a ticket.

Yep. CVC23123 and 23123.5 cover the cell phone issue. The app is on your phone and you are using the app so violation of...

CVC23123. (a) A person shall not drive a motor vehicle while using a wireless telephone unless that telephone is specifically designed and configured to allow hands-free listening and talking, and is used in that manner while driving.

In the subsections, you can enter a phone number or activate your phone to be used in a hands-free mode but that's about it.

Heres a part 2 to the same question. If the phone is in a mount so you can just use a finger tip is it just like changing a radio station? I use Pandora alot while driving with a windshield mount for a droid.

how about with an ipod or ipad, since they aren't phones? What is the difference between those and a car stereo?
