    A question for a LEO

An old friend of mine that I used to work with got hired on as a LEO with Anaheim PD. I have not spoken to him in years. I still remember being at his wedding years ago. I have been wanting to ask another Anaheim LEO if my friend still works for Anaheim PD and how he is doing. Would I be out of place/line to approach an Anaheim PD LEO if I see him/them parked in their unit or standing around talking? All I would be doing is asking about my friend and wanting to know if he is doing well.

    Thanks,

Doesn't hurt to ask, people ask me if I know so-and-so all the time
Urban legends are a poor basis for making public policy.

It's the age of google. I'd suggest tracking him down online. I know that I'd never give out info about another officer to someone I didn't know....

Long time ago, my friend called my headquarters, and left his contact info. My dept contacted me with his info, and I was able to connect with him.

Ask an officer on the street or drop in and leave a message. Very common.
I had an old friend call our non-emergency number and leave a message. Com center them sent me an email.

You could try with dropping off a note addressed to him at the front desk.
It sometimes takes a while, but the letter should find its way to him.

Not a problem to ask officers if they know so and so. Not a problem to leave your contact information at the communication center it's done all the time. However they will not give you his personal info.

Probably the best response or check to see if the PD has an email system to contact the officer via email.
You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You might not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first two things you're going to do are, 1) Call someone with a gun, 2) Pray they get there in time.

/\ Anaheim's email formatting is first initial, last name @ anaheim.net

                    i.e., john doe = jdoe@anaheim.net

If you knew him by an informal name like "Bob" but his formal name/legal name is "Robert", I'd send one to both to cover all bases.

I'd call a non-emergency number and ask for Officer Whoever's email.

or you could look online and find out if he works there through public records.
