    My Department needs ammo!

I know, join the club. We put in an order for 6000 rounds of .40 with LC Action 4 months ago, it was supposed to come through in 90 days. This week we put in a second order for and additional 6800 rounds, they advised us the old order and this order cannot be filled for at least 9 months! We're getting ludicrously short on ammo, you guys know of any places that can fill orders this size?

Fresno, we have 3-4 boxes of .40cal 250rounds for 119 + tax at each Big 5 store, we have atleast 4 stores in our area. If I can help in any way, let me know. I don't shoot .40, but the stuff seems to sit on the shelf more here.

that's not even a lot of ammo, I wonder why they can't fill it?

we usually order 60-80k at a time and we're a relatively small dept.

We're a very small agency, don't know what the deal is, we've done business with those folks for years. I've put in a email to Dooley's, will look into the other option referenced above.

P.S. We just need TMJ/FMJ range ammo, we've got a lot of HST and Ranger T in the locker.

You are suppose to use hugs not bullets.

You can borrow from a larger agency (local CHP for example). Just replenish as you get your order in. Just remember the ammo your borrowing might be full duty and not "practice" ammo. One of the local PD's is also cutting back on ammo. They are having the same problems your agency is having.

I don't know if other agencies are using any of your facilities, but you can "charge" them a case or two of ammunition as payment. Trust me on this...."payment" by ammo is a lot easier than a "p.o."

Well we're all good now apparently. LC Action contacted us last night, said they will have all the ammo to us within 7 days. I'm suspicious they saw this thread but I'll take what I can get. Just a little baffled it went from 9 months to 7 days in 48 hours?

Our quals have shrunk also due to the ammo crunch.

                            Not good for marginal shooters.

I am sure my department could help if it were 9mm or 45. We don't use 40 cal.

I was told yesterday that my dept orders about 2 years of supply in advance, quite a few rounds. I don't know where they order it from.
