    Personal History Statement help.

Can anyone LE answer some questions about backgrounds via pm? I have not been assigned a BI yet but a clerk e-mailed me the packet. I only have a few questions.
    Thanks

Not LE, but Active Air Force with TS. If the investigation is similar enough to ours I could answer questions.

Thanks for all of the advice. Well I've been moving forward with a second agency and praying as I go. Psych written was today, psych oral is scheduled for next month... In the meantime I guess just twiddle my thumbs?

"In the meantime I guess just twiddle my thumbs?"...from the application process, you are on the agency's timeline.

However, this is a great time to prep yourself as best as possible for the academy. Keep up on you running and other PT. This way you'll be putting yourself in the best possible position to excel.

              .
I understand that, but of course I am excited and anxious. Thanks for the heads up on PT.

Oral psych tomorrow. With all of the rumors I've heard, this is definitely for me so far the most anxious I've been in this process. It's also the furthest I've been in any process. I really don't know what to expect I've never seen a mental health professional before.

To put it in perspective, neither had the majority of us.

Most of us had never seen a mental health professional before either. Just remember answer truthfully, don't over think the questions and answer them naturally, don't answer how you think "they" would want you to answer. The questions aren't meant to be dwelt on.

and finally good luck to you.

                          LA County DSO Position

I have recently turned in my background packet during the background interview/appointment. I am currently waiting to hear back, hopefully with good news. I was really curious about the academy and what physical type things you need to pass i.e run a quarter mile or how many push ups etc?

As far as I know the state has yet to and probably never will set a PT standard. So each academy is different, and it really depends on where you go as to what they have as a standard. As you can guess some are a bit more focused on PT than some, but don't count on 1/4 mile as a timed standard, it will be longer than that. 30+ years ago our timed run was 3.5 miles.

POST has a PT minimum on ...I think it is five different things with a ridiculously low combined score? My dead grandma could pass it. Every academy will have varying degrees of difficulty for their PT, and if you can pass a week of PT, you'll pass the POST requirements with flying colors. I passed mine with a broken foot.
