Belleville Minimil Boot Anyone try these??

Hey guys, I am going into the academy and have decided on the Bellville Minimil boot as my training boot. Has anyone tried these or had any experience with them? I really like what Belleville makes and with the Vibram outsole, I just had to get them. I have about a month and a half to get use to the minimalist design and break them in. Thanks!

These boots are meant for a barefoot running style and they are similar to Vibram five fingers shoes. Unless you have been running barefoot, I would not use those boots. You risk injuries such as plantar fasciitis and stress fractures. Both of those injuries take a very long time to heal and would end your academy. Plantar fasciitis can last for years, if not forever.

I would suggest a boot with more support, such as something by Danner.

I'm an occasional barefoot runner and I love my Nike Free's. I tried the Nike SFB's and returned them. There is zero ankle support and zero cushioning. In just lightweight running clothes, light shoes are great. On the other hand, all of my duty gear adds about 35-40lbs and I'm 145lbs soaking wet. That is a lot of extra weight on my joints. When I jump an 8 ft wall and land on my feet, I need boots that will protect me.

Not to mention the cortizone shots in your foot will let you experience a whole new level of what pain is.

Hmm. You have given me a lot to think about. They will be here tomorrow, so I will wear them around the house and get a feel for them. Thanks all!
