If youre in the loop, the Peace Officers of California (POC) emailed members of CSLEA over the weekend. Anyone here a member and please post what you know about the organization.

CSLEA is a union composed of sworn and non sworn personnel who work for the state. The type of people who run CSLEA are probably the reason why ethics is a required course in the academy (my opinion). CSLEA hasn't been looking out for the sworn personnel as the majority of the membership is non sworn. POC aims to change this.

I'm not a fan of CSLEA and would sign up with a LEO only union in a heartbeat. I initially supported POC when they were offering such an opportunity. They lost my support when they ditched this foundation and aligned themselves first with SEIU and now AFSCME. Neither of those two organizations are LEO only unions. Add to the fact both of those unions spend millions of members dues to support and promote legislation I do not believe in.

POC & AFSCME

Anyone who thinks joining a 1.6 million member non-sworn AFL-CIO union is best for police officers is crazy. POC promised a stand alone PO union. WTF? AFSCME already represents two large non-sworn units in the state and they haven't done anything special. If you really want to Disappear into the sea of non-sworn join AFSCME.
