Is a bullet striking your home report worthy or not? I think it happened 3-4 days ago (woke up at 4am though heard glass breaking thought it was neighbor trowing out his beer bottles didn't really think about it too much) but I only opened the window blinds late last night due to the temp cooling down that's when I noticed the damage. I checked the news and SacPD website for any reported shootings in my neighborhood and such, found nothing. Feel's like a hassle but should I report it or should I just fix the damage and forget about it.

Question for anyone in Sacramento PD

It shouldn't be much of a hassle... they will show up, take some pics, collect any evidence, and be done. While the possibility exists it could provide evidence for some unreported gang shooting/homicide/whatever, in all likelihood once its reported nothing else will come of it. Additionally, if you are stating to have problems in your neighborhood with unsavory characters this shooting will show up when staff reviews the crime stats for the city. Stuff that goes unreported never makes it to the crime stats reviews which means that stuff probably never gets addressed by the PD.
Was it just the window that's broken? Do you know if it was indeed a bullet? could it have been a high powered air gun, slingshot, etc?Stay classy, CGF and Calguns.Originally posted by bwiese[BTW, I have no problem seeing DEA Agents and drug cops hanging from ropes, but that's a separate political issue.] -
It was a bullet. Hit the top of the window frame on the second floor. Since it was stopped by the plastic window frame I'm assuming it was running out of energy. Found the bullet on top when i removed the interior window.Last edited by nanoc; 05-21-2017, 4:44 PM.Comment

Looks like a bullet to me
. Like I said, your call. Would I report it? Probably. Are you required to? No.

You should report it. Its a 15 minute report and maybe some pictures to upload to the computer or some evidence to book. All in all maybe 45 mins worth of work for the officer. No it wont be solved but it adds to the crime stats that are tracked by the department and the FBI.Comment
