Always, always, always get outta the car ASAP on t-stops! Glad those two had a winning mindset, kept their cool, and won the fight.

As a side note, I watched the full video and it made me feel good to hear the random person run up and offer aid. We deal with too many douchebags and sometimes its easy to forget that we have plenty of good people left in our country.

I am glad that we are taught to be out of the car as soon as the radio car stops moving. It drives me crazy when I see partners writing a cite or running a guy with their head down and the car door closed, looking at the box.

I am glad that the officers are OK and I'm not shedding any tears for the bad guy. None.

And this does not appear to be a simple 'suicide by cop'. He wanted to take people with him. Why else would he be taking accurate, aimed shots and advancing on the patrol car, trying to flank the officer's cover?

Being a reserve I am a lifetime bookman and am out of the car before it stops and already looking for cover before we have initiated the t-stop.

Good for them for staying in the fight and communicating with each other. Also noted that they could not put out their location due to too much radio traffic. I was always taught to stay off the radio for routine stuff and use the MDT for this exact reason. It would be a terrible feeling being the one that was putting out routine radio traffic when this is going down.

As a LEO, once or twice I've had citizens rush into harms way to help me out when I needed it, and I'm eternally gratful for it. It really reminds me who we serve, and reminds me that there are still good people out there. Gives me a reason to put the uniform on at the begining of shift.

I wouldn't call it militarized. I would call it updated. Tactics and training need to be updated as does equipment. The term militarized is overly exaggerated here a lot of times.
