Not that I'm aware of, but if you are transporting HUGE quantities in a vehicle that has to stop at commercial vehicle inspection stations or truck scales, I'd recommend the correct hazmat placards and commercial license endorsements.

Just don't "accidentally" bring back any AP or tracer rounds.

shouldn't that be, 'any Handgun AP nor any tracer rounds' ?

Good distinction to make since most rifle ammunition, like 5.56mm would penetrate "armor". There are sellers at gunshows who label and sell so-called "armor piercing" rifle ammunition and that can cause some confusion during a law enforcement contact.

Interestingly, the enhancement for using or being armed with a firearm and possessing or using AP ammunition during the commission of a felony does not distinguish between handgun and rifle ammunition. That enhancement adds 3, 4, or 10 years!

                    12022.2.
                    (a) Any person who, while armed with a firearm in the commission or attempted commission of any felony, has in his or her immediate possession ammunition for the firearm designed primarily to penetrate metal or armor, shall upon conviction of that felony or attempted felony, in addition and consecutive to the punishment prescribed for the felony or attempted felony, be punished by an additional term of 3, 4, or 10 years.

No, if all this anti ammo legislation kicks in, yours truly will be in Nevada and Arizona purchasing ammo. Screw this state.

Rifle AP is not considered AP by legal definition. Pistol AP is what is illegal in CA?
