Don't not report your job. Just be honest. The one sure thing that will get you fired from CDCR is dishonesty. Don't ever leave anything out.

I would delete the second half of your post, and then follow the advice in the only other reply so far. You'll get your chance to put context to what's on paper.

I say that because the last thing you want is multiple editions of the same story. If an investigator finds this and it doesn't totally jive with what you say or write, it could be a big old ???.

Hard decision to make but if you are dishonest about it , not telling the truth (lying), will definitely disqualify you. Also if you have a big hole in your employment record (something not reported) it will raise a red flag most quickly and the person doing your background check will either dig until they find the reason for the hole or just reject your application just depends on how they feel about it or how many apps they have to process and how much time they have to spend on each one. The people doing the back ground checks have a quota of applications to do each month. Depending on the circumstances why you quit your employment, it might not be a bad idea to report it and if you have room to explain why you quit or put you'd like to explain why. They used to contact people for explanations needed, I don't know if they still do. I was an instructor at CDCR academy for a little over 6 years and was asked to go do background checks as an investigator to process applications of applicants. But I was too close to retirement at that time and didn't want to move to another place that close to me being done (retirement). So like I said, hard decision to make and your call only. If it was me, I'd report it, and if you do, they will look into it and talk to your employer and possibly only your employer. Put down you'd like to explain your side of the story. One lie no matter how small and they will disqualify you (at least that is the way it was when I was working with CDCR). You should be able to find a number of backgrounds or hiring and standards and ask to talk to your background person (usually a sergeant) and ask them. I was an investigator inside the prison for 5 1/2 years before I went tot he academy and if staff were being investigated for something, if they told the truth more times than not they were okay (depending on the severity of what they were being investigated for) and got to keep their job, possibly with a loss in pay for a period of time. Sorry for the length of this but hope it helps.

One thing to remember in LE is that if you lie, you die. Your credibility, morals and ethics matter too much. Like the others have said, put it down and when asked, explain and be ssure to be able to show how you have learned from that experience. Sometimes bad things happen and the important thing is that you have learned from mistakes, not blaming someone else and not repeating the same mistakes...Good luck

LE agencies know there are no angels out there, we all have skeletons in our closet. Do not omit anything. The saying is "You lie, you die."

Rockin, about time I have some people beat in time. Don't lie, trust me I had been fired for worse than you, but I told the truth and they still hired me.

How would the stuff he posts on this forum come up on a search? If he doesn't use his name in his username, how would it pop up? The only thing I used was my email address...

Well a quick Google search of the user name could find it being used in multiple locations - maybe the real name is associated somewhere.

They could also ask for any social media presence. Maybe not the password, but I can see them asking for usernames.

When I was younger, I used some forum to communicate with other teens my age, yes yes I know hahaha. I have no idea what my username and password are to it anymore. Is that going to be a problem? There's probably some funny stuff I posted on that site lol.

I would doubt that would be an issue. Don't give more information then what is needed but don't lie about what information is asked.

Disclose all info, good or bad. Would you want to hire a dishonest CO?
