I'm looking to enter a Level III reserve academy in the Fall for adding to my training in SAR with the Sheriff's Dept. I was wondering what the overall costs are for the academy and what the major cost items are. Any help appreciated.

From what I hear, it's about $2000. But Grossmont may not be offering it in the fall due to budget problems.Comment

A level three is usually just the 40 hour arrest and control course with the addition of 24 hours of firearms if you are looking at an armed position. Contact grossmont to see what their per Unit cost is for the first part and then ask them about the firearms portion if that is offered. At the school I assist at, the Arrest and control part is about 50 bucks. The firearms portion used to cost 50 as well but now they are probably going to charge the cost of weapons rentals, 300 rounds of ammo and range fees. That coujld end up being about 200 now. We suspended all our classes due to budget cuts, but may restart next year. Good luckA life is not important, except for the impact it has on other lives- Jackie RobinsonComment
