According to this article here are the survival chances without use of an AED:

2% to 30% effectiveness when administered outside of the hospital
6% to 15% for hospitalized patients
Less than 5% for elderly victims with multiple medical problems

Why would you ever have to identify yourself as a LEO retired when performing CPR? Who cares if you are "currently qualified." If a citizen needs help, I help them.

      1 for a BUNCH, btw.

Basically they were smoking weed and drinking. One of the friends got into an accident by crashing into a light pole. The other friend which was in a vehicle following them stopped to help. She saw the smoke which was the powder from the airbags being deployed and thought the car would catch on fire and "blow up". She then yanked her friend out of the car causing the damage to her friend. They are saying that she isn't covered because there was not any immediate danger of fire and that she should of left her there until the fire department could of extracted her safely.

Her actions caused more damage then help. If the car had actually of been on fire she would of been covered.

Any time I helped out off duty, I tried to sneak off after competent medical authority was on scene before too much investigating got going. If someone asked I always said fireman, not EMT or paramedic.

my instructor also gave the same advice.
only stay until ambulance took over, do not give unnecessary information unrelated to the patient situation.

Yeah, I ended up helping C-spine a guy that was hanging upside down from his truck that was on it's side for about 30 mins at an accident scene while they extracted him. I had to squat because of the angle. Damn, my muscles were sore the next day. Now I know why they had me help. Hehe.

But yeah, I don't think there is anything saying that you have to identify yourself as law enforcement or medical at the scene of an accident.
