Is your step dad on PRCS or Parole? Difference is PRCS is supervised by County Probation and Parole is supervised by State Parole.

Who cares what he is on.... xodus has the right game plan that won't get his step dad, himself, or anyone else in trouble.Stay classy, CGF and Calguns.Originally posted by bwiese[BTW, I have no problem seeing DEA Agents and drug cops hanging from ropes, but that's a separate political issue.]Comment

No it will not
No it won't alert his Parole Agent or the PD that you have purchased a firearm. DROS doesn't work that way and the system isn't that good. I hate to give away state secrets, but I feel I can answer this one since you could have gotten the same answer from your gun store sales clerk. One last question. Once DROS is finished will it alert the PD/PO that there is now a rifle here even if I don't keep it here and are they going to hassle me about it? Can I also contact his PO in confidentiality and explain my concerns to him with out it being a hassle?
Thanks again. YOU GUYS ROCK!
If you are not going to bring the rifle home, but instead plan on taking it to your friends house and storing it in his gun safe, then you don't need to notify the Parole Agent. He/She is only concerned with the residence of record for the Parolee. Take the ammo also, because he can't have access to even a single bullet. Good hunting in AR brother.Comment

Thanks again guys. I just want to do the right thing. Though I really hate how my rights are somewhat trampled on because of the actions of another person, its just not worth causing more problems especially when I will be moving out of state soon.

I would say its not exactly fair to say YOUR rights are being trampled on... as an adult you have the freedom to choose where/who you live with. If one of those persons is on some form of supervised release, you must deal with the situation. That being said, I think you have the right idea and soon enough it won't matter to you anyway. Go to AR and enjoy the rifle!Stay classy, CGF and Calguns.Originally posted by bwiese[BTW, I have no problem seeing DEA Agents and drug cops hanging from ropes, but that's a separate political issue.]Comment

Why is it more and more now days people make their own decisions, and then because of repercussions of those decisions blame others for their "rights" being "trampled" upon....
This entitlement society is killing our country!!
To the OP YOU are an adult. If you don't want your rights limited, don't have a dirt bag felon come stay in your house, regardless whether or not he is your father.
You have the right to say NO.
Use that right, don't blame others for your decisions.Poke'm with a stick!

I understand your points. I guess it was my choice when I decided to move back home with my mom a little while ago because she needed help with bills and stuff like that. I have been planning on moving out of the state anyways so I thought I might as well help them out. Its not my decision whether he could be here or not, since its not my house. If it was up to me I would of have him go to his daughters house where he could be with other dirt bag felons. With that being said I wont be here for much longer so its not a big deal. I guess I just never thought I would ever be in this type of situation.
For the record I have never been given anything. I grew up poor. I started my own web development business and taught myself everything I know. Back in high school when all my friends were out partying, I stayed home and taught myself all the skills I would need for web development. I knew I couldn't afford to go to college. Now I make my own living, bought my own car, raise my own dog, etc.

This is a gret example of where there is "the law" as in, what the penal codes say, and "the reality" which is often not the same thing. I'm not going to rehash somehting already said, but I will add one point that I don't see here.
AMMO.
Ex-cons are also barred from having or having access to ammo, and you should look up the PC governing that. Should be the same PC section regarding firearm access by convicted persons. It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.Comment
