ARs and Magazines

OK, I have one for you. And it may be a test case. I am not asking for ligeal advice, Just a question. So, Here goes.

Detachable magazine or replacable magazine.

A Detachable magazine is an item that be detached from a weapon without dismantling the weapon, right?

So, If my AR has a replacable Magazine, that is required you to break your AR in half like that of a shotgun to remove, load or Replace said Magazine, Do anyone here think that would be OK?

Just a question.

By the way, A 303 British Rifle has a 10-round detachable Magazine, and a baynet lug.

Read the actual law before trying to figure out any hypotheticals.

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.
(2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
(3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.

978.20 Definitions
The following definitions apply to terms used in the identification of assault weapons pursuant
to Penal Code section 12276.1:
(a) “detachable magazine” means any ammunition feeding device that can be
removed readily from the firearm with neither disassembly of the firearm action
nor use of a tool being required. A bullet or ammunition cartridge is
considered a tool. Ammunition feeding device includes any belted or linked
ammunition, but does not include clips, en bloc clips, or stripper clips that load
cartridges into the magazine.

Magazine locks use a tool to be legal.
Older attempts at legal AR-15 in CA had internal fixed magazines that you had to partial dissemble and top load, like you are talking about.

Bayonet lugs are not a listed feature in CA. That was federal.
And the 303 British Rifle you are talking about is probably a bolt action. Read the law above it states "semiautomatic centerfire rifle"
