What is the VC code you pulled this five car figure out of?

Seriously, if you don't know the law, don't make stuff up.

Lets see.... Califorina Drivers Handbook 2012, Page 29.

      Reduced speeds.

You must drive slower when there is heavy traffic or bad weather.
However, If you block the normat and reasonable movement of traffic by driving too slowly, You may be given a TICKET.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------

I haul arcade machines, Up to 8 of them in my F250. When there is a line of traffic behind me, I ALWAYS pull over and let them pass. Otherwise, If some one thinks that they can pass on a curve, They will try.

Speed Limits, California Drivers Handbook page 28

California has a Basic Speed Law. This law means that you may never drive faster than it is safe for current conditions.

If I am hauling a heavy load, and I drive too fast, I could cause a pileup. But if I drive too slowly, Then I am creating a traffic hazzard. So, If I am hauling a load (3000+) and I drive 55 in a 65 mile zone, Am I required to pull over to let others to pass?

As for the rock, I live under one. I am a Rancher/Farmer. I also repair full size arcade games.

Seriosusly, If I get a ticket for driving too slow, With 2 tons of walnut shells in the back of my F250, Can I call you as an expert wittness?

And this is not cop bashing in any way or form. I put many miles driving to and from work. I have hauled almost every kind of arcade machine you can think of. In Sac, 1994, I was so overloaded with a pool table, Pinball and a kiddy ride in my 87 Ford Ranger, I had to be very carefull that the front end wouldn't come off the ground. And there was a CHP following me from the mini-storage to our shop.

And this, Is a M151A2 1/4 ton Military Jeep I stuffed in my 87 Ford Ranger.

          Maybe this?

          21656.
On a two-lane highway where passing is unsafe because of traffic in the opposite direction or other conditions, a slow-moving vehicle, including a passenger vehicle, behind which five or more vehicles are formed in line, shall turn off the roadway at the nearest place designated as a turnout by signs erected by the authority having jurisdiction over the highway, or wherever sufficient area for a safe turnout exists, in order to permit the vehicles following it to proceed. As used in this section a slow-moving vehicle is one which is proceeding at a rate of speed less than the normal flow of traffic at the particular time and place.

              Spy-d,
I'm not sure about the roads you regularly drive, but all the ones around me that are 65-70mph are at least two lane. If you are in the right lane doing 55mph and you get a ticket for impeding traffic, I'm willing to bet you some 5.56 ammo that it will get dismissed in traffic court!

As for ilduche, why do you even write tickets if you are unwilling to go to traffic court? Seems like there is a very easy way to prevent such a thing from occurring in the first place...

one of my speeding tickets was in a 70 mph zone...left and middle lanes (of 3) stacked up, big rigs in the middle, cars in the left lane with some idiot at the front of the line in the left lane going 60mph.

i went blazing by on the right, to find a chp sitting in front of the line of rigs in the middle lane.

I used to get a lot of tickets as a younger and dumber man. I always fight a ticket. I've got about a 50% success rate for officers not showing up. I drive for a living now so I will still go to court, gotta protect that driving record......

I can vouche for spy-d, I'm a commercial driver and HAVE been pulled over for 'stacking up a line of cars and not pulling over to let them pass' granted there was NOWHERE to pull over on a 2 lane road in the mountains.

IDK spy-d maybe its just a NOR CAL thing. As a commercial driver up here we all have to deal with it regularly. Having to pull over up a tough climb and come to a stop then try and start up the hill again. BS Law if you ask me.

Not cop bashing, just trying to help.

22400(a) CVC does not require you to exceed the speed limit to keep up with the flow of traffic.

22400. (a) No person shall drive upon a highway at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, unless the reduced speed is necessary for safe operation, because of a grade, or in compliance with law.

                        Trickster,

                        Never underestimate.......................

Some 25 years ago I took a class in juvenile procedure. The professor was a judge on the L.A. Municipal Court. She told us of an officer in Lancaster who in the early 70's was regularly stopping vehicles driving 80-90mph on the 14 Freeway and citing the drivers for both 22349(a) (Speeding) and 22400(a) (Impeding Traffic) on the same citation form. I'm not sure if the "compliance with law" language existed in the 1970's version of the law. I suspect that it did not, because of the context of her example.

The professor used this example to highlight the principle that contradictory laws do exist.

NO... I am NOT a LEO, nor do I claim to know all the laws in Calif.
But I did get a ticket in 1982, outside of Gridley, Calif.
For having 7 cars behind me. And the POSTED speed limit was 55 MPH.
We were coming into town with a speed limet of 35. That is where we got the ticket from a CHP. Of course it was droped.

And that was a surprized to me, my dad, and my Uncle. My uncle was the most surprised. And he was called a Hanging Judge.

Who am I? I am the son of the man who wrote the book "How to fight a windmill" Also known as How to protest Property Taxes.

My Uncle was a Judge In Butte County.

CBR- hey hey don't accuse me of writing tickets buddy! first off, cops don't write cites all day. Not even patrol cops. And there are assignments where cites aren't required at all.

I would hate to assume that you put in work, IlDuche...

But all joking aside, believe me I understand that traffic cites usually aren't the highlight of anyone's day. I think the last traffic cite I wrote was in December. I don't write loads of tickets, but I can assure you that I will be more than happy to show up for traffic court for those I do because they usually mean the offender was engaging in one of my pet peeves (false registration and blowing stale red lights, for instance).
