While I was talking to a security patrol guy getting ready for his shift on our street he put on his gun belt, pulled gun out of case, (loaded?) magazine already in the weapon, and put it in his holster. I noticed he didn't chamber a round and asked him what the company's policy was on where to chamber/unload the weapon since he did everything outside. He said it was a felony to chamber a round in public, so he just leaves the magazine in the gun with one in the chamber at the end of his shift, puts it away, and then pulls it back out again when he starts his new shift.
1) He's breaking the law by driving around with a loaded weapon in an unlocked case (locked trunk though) while he's coming and going to work?
2) Is it really a felony for a security guard to chamber a round when starting his shift? (Depends if he does it in car/outside on street?)
They apparently don't go into their station/office at all, just show up in their patrol area when they start their shift, so where does the law stand on this? Are they typically violating a law that isn't enforced?
