Well, hiring or testing. Guess that's all subjective.

they will be hiring for quite some time from what I understand. They are projected to loose a couple hundred in less then the next two years from what I understand.

I always wanted to live in San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara.. nice beach and good food..
However, I am very happy with Riverside Sheriff's Department right now.

80 to 100k a year is not a lot of money in SF. It's not enough to buy a house unless you have help from family, have a terrible commute, or you can live with the types you arrest all day.

Who says you have to live where you work?

I bought a new built 1700 sq ft home away from the big cities for 315k Commute to SF with Bart 50 minutes, I dont know about driving though.

Not a 1 bedroom condo for 500k -750k near the silicon valley or studio for same or more

I mentioned that, to me, your commute sucks. Is that door to door, or just time sitting on the train?

I hope some good people apply and are hired because San Francisco leadership and subsidized leeches have really messed up the city. Some really good cops are retiring soon.

My commute to my job is about 20 minutes, I leave at 6am and start at 630am and leave at 3pm.

If I were to work for SFPD, the commute would suck. I would guess it would take at least 1.5 hours during the time when everyone else is going to work. I dont really like the city because of traffic. Thats one of the things I hate doing is sitting in traffic for hours a day.

My past jobs commute times were 15 minutes and 5 minutes. The 5 minute commute was because our apartment was a few blocks away from work.

If you thought a hour was horrible, I know some people who drive from Elk Grove *near Sacramento* to SF daily, thats about a 2-3 hour commute one way daily.

I know many people who have commutes well over an hour also. The good thing about being a cop is your shift will often be off hours for most people. There are some decent affordable places within an hour of SF with no traffic. During peak commute, no way.

Come on calgunners. Some good people need to apply or lateral.
