    Any RSO deputies on here?

i recently applied to take the written test for riverside sheriff, im pretty confident ill pass the written as ive passed other agencies written before (CHP/SBSD).

any advice as far as the PAT?

im pretty active and usually bike 5 miles a day(kids permitting) and run maybe 2 miles or so.

i was told by other counties that because of my age 21 at the time, i should wait awhile to apply.

I'm 24 now, think i should be okay? i own my own home and have good credit , I'm not sure if that would help in showing maturity?

Feel free to PM me , if youd rather not post.

    thank you
    Riley

Not with RSO but heres my input: Married with kids? Do you have a degree?

Competition is tough and EVERYTHING good helps!

The PAT isnt hard. Basic 20 pushups, 25 situps, and a 1 1/2 mile run I believe. I did it a while back and hadn't done any running or working out in a while, lucky for me I have always been athletic.

Just do it! Handle your business and good luck!

I passed the written test a couple weeks ago for RSO. It's pretty simple. 10 minute timed vocabulary test and 225 questions about you and your past.

          For the PAT, it's 22 push-ups in a minute, 27 sit-ups in a minute and a mile and a half run under 14 minutes.

The push-ups: Your chest has to touch your partner's fist on the ground and lock your arms coming up. I did 31 in a minute.

The sit-ups: Your fingers have to be grabbing your ears the whole time and your partner holds your feet together with his knees but not on top of your feet. Your partner's hands are behind your calves/under your knees. When you come up your triceps have to touch the top of your knees (not the sides or front). It's a really weird way of doing sit-ups. I did 23 in a minute so I failed and am rescheduled for Dec. 18th.

I have the written test and PAT for Orange County Sheriff on Dec. 8th.

Hope that helps and good luck!

It's like saying, "Quiting smoking is easy! I've done it several times. "

No offense but since you posted it, I have to comment. You've passed other agency tests and you're not hired with one of them???? I think you might have other issues to contend with. You don't have to answer. To me, that could be a "red flag" with other agencies. They look at an applicant and wonder why they "shotgun" their applications out to everywhere, yet the person has something in their jacket, preventing him/her from being hired.

OCSD is known to be the hardest PHYSICAL academy in SOCAL.

Just keeping it real. Those numbers you posted are extremely weak and you would fail out at BCTC or OCSD based on fitness alone. 14 is passing for the 1.5mi but you won't get to backgrounds unless you are under 12.

That's what I've heard. I've been a hockey player all my life so my legs are my strong point and my abs are the weakest. My workout is changing that.

When I was at BCTC I was doing 65 pushups and 55 situps and I was middle of the road.
