Home Depot has individual 110v candle sticks which work well.

Although two of my good friends were murdered on duty, I'd never place a light in a window of my home that may suggest to a crap-head that A) "This house has a cop living in it" ; or B) "This house supports cops, both living or passed on."

Unfortunately, there are too many rotten eggs out there that would love to use that as an excuse to throw a brick through my window......and when I'm not home, but the wife and kids are....

It's a good cause, but I believe in the "low profile" approach. That's why most cops (me included) will NEVER wear a T-shirt, hat or have a bumper sticker that says, "LAPD #1" or "I heart NYPD," or "KMA-628" etc.... Things like that (including a blue light in the window) may send out an invitation to a confrontation of some sort.

Apparently all blue lights can signify you are Jewish and celebrate Hanukkah. I have blue and white up at my house. Had a friend come by asking me when I turned Jewish.

This is a good way to support also. And you get a cool patch.

Why the angry smilie when your friend asked that question. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal to become angry about.

I guess you live in a neighborhood where you don't have to lock your doors, nor do you live in a city/county that has or even needs a police/sheriffs department, right? I see now why you don' get it.

I think you're giving POS's too much credit. We live in Stockton and put one up the other day. I highly doubt any frequent guests of the Holiday Inn Express know what it means.

Sure, just like nobody knows what these stupid license plate frames mean too:

It's the same principle. Don't advertise anything about the profession. Word gets around.

Never was fond of the license plate things. I view that as a way of getting preferential treatment. Just like the 11-99 foundations license plate frames, good in concept, and I appreciate all that donate to LEO foundation, but that is just asking to be abused.

I gladly donate to all sorts of LEO foundations myself, but personally will not ever put something like that on my car.
