    Background ?, HELP!!!!

Is there anyone who has had a difficult background investigation? Anyone have issues with getting responses from their references or past/present employers? I ask these questions because I'm having MAJOR difficulties and need a word of advice from someone who may know a little more. I am ripping my hair out trying to figure out what is going on! Even my own B.I. does not have any advice or information for me at this moment.

Went through mine last year and had the same issues with two past employers and a personal reference. I had to go speak with the employers in person in order to get them to talk to my BI.

If your only issue is that some references and employers are not responding...then noob has the right answer. Go and bug the heck out of the references until they get it done. Help them understand how important this is to you. If you have other issues you think might be the real reason it is going slow, you can PM me....I was previously assigned as a BI and can provide you some advice and/or realism if you like.

Former B.I. and former B.I. unit supervisor. What you are experiencing is not uncommon. People (former supervisors) leave, companies close, etc. Same with personal references. People move, are busy, freak when they see an envelope with the return address from some P.D., etc.

As suggested, do some of your own detective work. Contact the former employers and references to:

          1. Confirm that the company is still in business
          2. That there is someone there who remembers you
          3. That personal reference contact info is up to date, and that the references have a heads up that they will be contacted by a B.I. about you and that their help is appreciated

If you discover a problem, let your B.I. know.
