They still make the crown vic for fleet sales iirc

The one I'm pissed about being discontinued is the 94-96 caprice

The new one sucks compared to the old one

Enjoy driving the speed limit everywhere and an annoying whistling noise if they are flipped up.

Crown Vics were discontinued, as well as the Mercury Gran Marquis, Lincoln TownCar, etc, for political reasons, that being able to achieve government-mandated mpg's. It does not apply to light trucks, SUV's and the like. I believe the Chrysler 300's with the BIG hemi engines are getting slapped with a "gas guzzler" surcharge in the area of $2000.

Doesn't matter how you display your spotlights. I have two on my pickup and sometimes they're in the up position, sometimes down. So long as they have clear DOT-approved bulbs and you have only two forward facing spotlights, the CVC says you are good to go. Just don't shine them on a moving vehicle or you'll have some explaining to do.

Why anyone would own an old cop car is beyone me. Why would you even want people to think for a split second that perhaps there is a cop next to them on the road. Not too bright in my view.

Also, the new Ford Taurus 6 cylinder smokes the V8 Dodge, according to my buddy that works EVOC at LASD in Pomona. I was surprised to hear that.

That's total BS. I test drove the new SHO Taurus and it is the biggest POS on the road. Push your right food and the f****in car actually slows down.

I test drove a SHO with the performance package. I was actually quite surprised. I don't know if yo;u got a lemon or what....but the one I test drove hauled booty and handling was surprisingly good.

I drove the one they brought to the Auto Show a couple of years ago. I wouldn't think they'd bring a lemon to the show, but who knows, maybe they had a beta tune in it.

Of course, I naturally compare it to the 1995 SHO I once owned which drove like a BOOH...whenever I kicked it in to passing gear (auto tranny) I would have to hold the f*** on!!!

Okay Rorge, just got off the phone with my buddy at EVOC. I wanted to make sure I heard correctly over the campfire last week. He told me that on the pursuit course, the 6-banger Taurus beat the Dodge. On a straight line, it was the other way around. The pursuit course is quick short bursts of speed, followed by heavy hard breaking and quick cornering.

I wasn't too clear originally, but then again I wasn't totally incorrect either.

You do realize theres two verisions of the interceptor. Theres the twin turbo ecoboost and the 3.7 naturally aspirated

I enjoy driving the crown Victoria its a strong reliable car and most of the time police departments keep them well maintained. The car I bought was used to patrol lax ( or so I was told) service record says it was serviced every month or so. I have owned the car for 2 years now and only thing I have replaced is the right rear axle shaft.
Being that most police officers drive the living **** out of their cars I think i got lucky with mine
