throwing cig out the window

My lovely wife got a cite for throwing a cigarette out the window (23111cvc) in Burbank . I've read that fines are 100 to 1000. Has anyone here got one or knows of anyone that got one. How much should I expect including court fines. thanks.

Never had one cause I don't smoke, but found this online.

The statewide schedule calls for a fine of $380 for a violation of Vehicle Code section 23111. But the mandatory fine may be as high as $1,000, plus a minimum of 8 hours of picking up trash is required pursuant to CVC section 42001.7.

Not to mention if they prove it was youre cigarette that started the fire you get a bill for the resources used to put it out. In the summer months a standard vegetation fire dispatch around here is something to the effect of(TCU);

Columbia Air attack (2 S-2's, 1 UH-1 and an OV-10 Air Attack ACFT)
Needless to say it adds up rather quick.

I did a search and it looks like the butts are NOT biodegradable and people say they take from 10 years to some say never to decompose...

Butt even if it took 1 year why would anyone want to see your litter for that long...

Maybe not a fire, but I'll tell you it's no fun getting hit with one on the freeway while on a motorcycle. I don't find it unreasonable to ask someone not to throw them out the window.

Same here, among other things (bottles, cans, etc). Seems that if people feel its ok to throw one thing out of the window they start throwing other things out of it as well.

My brother and i were at a stoplight once and the lady in the car next to us tossed her cigarette butt out the window, my brother said politely "hey mam?" She said "yes?" and my brother then yelled IS THE WHOLE WORLD YOUR F***ING ASHTRAY!!!!!!!

Even flicking ashes out the window is illegal from a report I saw on the news.
