    Just took the POST exam

After taking the pellet B exam, I was surprised and embarrassed at the amount of people who did not even bother dressing nice. I would guess there was about 5-600 people, and less than 5% wore a tie. Most were dressed like they were going to the gym or just came from the hood. I've heard that the proctors of the test take notes on people's dress and behavior and thank god for that.

Was it the same for you LEO's that took the exam in recent years? I have to assume its a generation thing.

What's more embarrassing is the amount of those 5-600 people that will fail that test!

I haven't taken the California POST exam since 1994 - at that time I took it at the end of the the academy and everyone was dressed as we had been through that whole process.

We had a guy show up to an oral interview in shorts once.

At the LASD written exam, I saw a girl all 'hoochied' out. Booty shorts, tattoos showing and a tight top showing off her pudge. At first I thought, "what a shame"... until I realized that its better for me if I have less competition! lol.

The real shame was the girl who asked me how you spell jewelry correctly; and it turns out she passed the exam.

I'm taking this test soon, in about 2 weeks. I planned on dressing nice, but really nervous about the exam. Any advice for me?

You don't need to be in a suit and tie, just a clean pair of slacks or Dockers with a nice shirt will do just fine. Be well groomed, no sloppy haircuts or neckbeards

If and when you make it to an oral board, then you bust out the Men's Wearhouse gear, suit and tie all the way, clean shaven, smell good, etc.

It's funny you should say that because I have two interviews next week and I just went to mens warehouse the other night and got two suits.

When I took the test in 1988, EVERYONE was dressed professionally. Values change quickly, I guess.
