    Gun Free School Zone

Hey everyone, I have attempted to research a specific scenario that will play a larger part in my life in the near future.

My good cause statement has been approved and I will begin the process for my LTC soon and I am moving off of Edwards AFB to Rosamond. The thing is, in order for me to get anywhere say down to LA county or elsewhere, I will pass by a few schools. I have read some of the information on the wikki and dove into the penal codes as well and I could not find anything that is tailored to this scenario.

So, my questions is: Can I carry concealed, in my vehicle, on my person, passing by a school to continue to my destination.

I know the 1995 act says 1000ft of a school and the property I have no need to enter. The exemptions I know of are private property businesses and what not and (b)Any person who possesses a firearm in a place that the person knows, or reasonably should know, is a school zone, as defined in paragraph (1) of subdivision (e), unless it is with the written permission of the school district superintendent, his or her designee, or equivalent school authority, shall be punished as specified in subdivision (f). So in a different town that I do not reside in and I am not familiar with I am covered by this specific code right?

The punishments are a little harsh for first time offenders and I, like most want to try and avoid them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry in advance if it has been covered before...and I'm sure it has.

Your fine with CCW (one of many exemptions)

See the bold section in the Penal Code below

626.9 (l) This section does not apply to a duly appointed peace officer
as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of
Part 2, a full-time paid peace officer of another state or the
federal government who is carrying out official duties while in
California, any person summoned by any of these officers to assist in
making arrests or preserving the peace while he or she is actually
engaged in assisting the officer, a member of the military forces of
this state or of the United States who is engaged in the performance
of his or her duties, a person holding a valid license to carry the
firearm pursuant to Chapter 4 (commencing with Section 26150) of
Division 5 of Title 4 of Part 6
, or an armored vehicle guard, engaged
in the performance of his or her duties, as defined in subdivision
    (e) of Section 7521 of the Business and Professions Code.

Gun must/should be locked away and in the trunk or inaccessible portion of your vehicle.

'Inaccessible' has no meaning in CA PC 626.9, or any law governing firearm transport in CA.

And those guns listed on the LTC are not affected by GFSZ or transport laws.

Correct, but I'm not speaking in terms of a CCW.

Yeah, but not only were you incorrect, you were off topic. The OP was specifically asking about with a CCW.

It was approved on Edwards AFB but I am moving before I will attend the class.
