Congratulations Brother. I stopped by and watched you receive your award. Great job Honor Recruit. That is a great way to start off your career. You still have my info and stop by the office if you are ever at STARS again. Congrats again.

Congrats on graduation and mega props on honors! I never worked for a sheriff's department but I can say without doubt that some of the best cops I knew in my time were deputies working custody. There is nothing they don't see, and they know (literally) everyone, and the games that they play. More than once a casual conversation with a custody deputy turned into a solid investigative lead.

Congrats man! I'm hoping ill be where you're at somewhere down the road. All I have left to do are my psych tests and medical evaluation. Hoping I can get those knocked out soon and put on the list for the next academy date.

Probably a random question, but do you know what shifts you will work, do deputies in the jails work 8s, 10s, or 12s?

I believe that most of the facilities are still on 8 hour shifts.

Learn about the psychology of the inmates. Use the jail assignment as your educational tool. I have learned a lot about the bad guys in jail. I have never had to fight a single bad guy to this date after 26 years. Many challenged me, but I talked them out of fights. I used force to control them many times, but no fight.
