    10/11 codes

Can someone link me to a website(s) that has the 10/11 codes? Much appreciated, thank you!

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.

Problem is, there seems to be minute differences to the codes wherever you go. While most are standard for lack of a better term, there are variations depending on what agency you are with.

Good example was the unusual call thread that was started here about a month ago. Someone asked for a 905R. While we don't have that specific code, with us 905's generally have to do with automobiles.

They are different depending on where you go.... In OC, we also had 900 codes.

My agency now is 100% plain English. It had something to do with taking fed grant money, FEMA or something like that.

Yes, the current FEMA incident command structure training is seriously trying to get agencies to drop "10 codes" for plain English to make inter-agency cooperation easier.

We can't even get radios to talk between different departments...cuz why would we need to talk to major cities within our county? :-/

We have 10 codes. We used to have 8 codes. Never had 11 codes. Not a whole lot of code standardization from dept to dept as you can tell.

In OC, we had comm with other cities. Had to change zones on the radio, but they were there. Also had Red channels which was a county wide channel. But, everyone heard you and dispatch went to OCSD, not our own dispatchers.

Drop to san diego or LA county and you had to use CLEMARS which I believe went to CHP dispatch.

There are tons of websites and they are all right for their area, and wrong for other areas.

While most of the codes are interchangeable, there are important variations even in neighboring counties and jurisdictions.

When I worked in L.A. County:

                    Y was Young phonetically

9-11 meant to meet me at such and such location

                    In neighboring San Bernardino County:

                    Y was Yellow phonetically

10-87 meant to meet me at such and such location

Just the two that came off the top of my head. There are others that different or only exist in one county and not the other.

Nothing that you couldn't get over, but goes to show you that it doesn't take much to get comms all crossed up and ask each other... what did you mean by that?
