OC Sheriff applicant question about disclosure

I just passed the panel interview for OC Sheriff. Went great and I'm really excited. Came home and was talking to my wife and I realized I forgot to mention a minor traffic accident on my pre investigative form. Ahhh!!! I feel sick to my stomach. I just completely forgot about it. I bumped into another car's bumper in a parking structure 5 years ago. The guy was totally cool and told me to not even worry about it, which is why I forgot about - no insurance or report.

It should have been disclosed and I screwed up. So, my question is how screwed am I? I plan on disclosing it to my BI when I first meet with him in two weeks, no matter the consequences. There's no record of it but I want to be completely honest. Is this going to DQ me? Anyone had a similar situation where they accidentally left something out on the pre investigative interview form?

I don't think it will be an issue, as it was non-injury, was a police report taken? Does it show as an at fault collision on your DL record? Or was it just a minor fender bender with little to no damage that was never reported? It shouldn't have any major consequences, but still honesty is the best policy, and I would call and let the back ground investigator know that you forgot it. They are human also, and we all forget minor stuff that happens to us from time to time. Minor traffic violations usually don't ping on someone radar, unless there is a pattern or a lot of them.

That's good to hear. It was very minor - just a small scrape. Not reported to anyone.
